- I am unaware of whether some of these are parodies of actual songs but some of them are so impressive they may as well be
- There is no specific standard for this rating system. a 1/10 is not a 1/10 of all time, merely a 1/10 compared to the rest of the songs. In fact this discography is impressive
- I will admit in creating this review i grappled between subjective and objective ideas of good-i believe that the ranking is subjective, but my ratings are a mix between subjective and objective.
To clear things up are the explanations behind my ratings:
Lyrics
This refers to how witty and well suited the lyrics are to the style/humor of the show. Obviously I may not know the full context behind every lyric but old references are not funny and don't count in my eyes
Memorability
How easily could I recite the lyrics from memory? Does the melody easily come to mind because it is so memorable? Songs that score well in this category hold meaning to me and ‘scratch an itch’
Humor
This rating concerns how much each song captures the charm of family guy and not quite how much I giggled because I did not do much of that
Production
This is the most objective category and means what it says-songs that score well in this category have good cohesive instrumentals that suit the style of the song and the vocals of the characters and feel well refined. I was compelled to add this category after hearing some great instrument solos
1. You have aids
This one is high production but still faithful to the series. Its impressive considering that this comes from one of the earlier seasons. Really captures the show. The harmony is so pleasant. I now know that it’s a group of singers instead of peter’s friends which is upsetting but it’s close enough
Lyrics 8/10
Memorability 8/10
Vocals 9/10
Humor 6-7/10
Production 7/10
2. Prom night dumpster baby
Very polished and very cohesive but not very relevant to any of my favourite characters so it lacks personal connection. satisfying listen
Lyrics 9/10
Memorability 7/10
Vocals 8/10
Humor 5/10
Production 7/10
3. Fcc song
Good for peter’s vocals and again Macfarlane impresses. One of the easiest songs to recite from memory. If i could describe it in one word it would be cheeky. I'm happy to hear quagmire
Lyrics 8/10 intelligent
Memorability 8/10
Vocals 7/10
Humor 6/10
Production 6/10
4. Friendship is the best thing ever
Even though it’s less well produced it’s cute and very charming very 80s. The back and forth in the chorus is so endearing and I like Miley’s voice in this it’s a little husky. And of course i want things to go well for stewie
Lyrics 7/10
Memorability 10/10
Vocals 6/10
Humor 2/10
Production 5/10
5. Bag of weed
Brian & stewie duet which is always great because I love them. Very catchy and a perfect family guy song. Suits their voices and goes to show how versatile Macfarlane is (assuming he sings in these). This is slightly lower because it’s nothing important or special, just a good staple
Lyrics 5/10
Memorability 8/10
Vocals 7/10
Humor 5/10
Production 7/10
6. You and i are so awfully different
Very cute and describes Brian and Stewie’s relationship well. Doesn’t really stand out amongst the others but sets a good standard and has a lot of personality. I think this and Bag of weed are more closely tied.
This pair is lovely and this song makes both of their voices work well together

Memorability 6/10
Vocals 6/10
Humor 7/10
Production 4/10
7. Family guy main title
Classic and deserving of the main title. I wish it were extended (very promising). Family guy does choirs well and Family guy main title is almost there. There should be more solos
Lyrics 4/10
Memorability 5/10
Vocals 7/10
Humor 2/10
Production 8/10
8. Shipoopi
Suits peter’s vocals, but I don’t like it when he sings. It probably strains Macfarlane’s voice.
Incredible instrumental. Full ensemble full orchestra. Difficult to reckon with the fact that this came out of a cartoon
Lyrics 4/10
Memorability 6/10
Vocals 5/10
Humor 3/10
Production 5/10
9. Down syndrome girl
Not suited to stewie’s voice but impressive overall. I think i’m kind of partial towards stewie but so is whoever is writing these songs anyway. They make the tap dancing work in this song
Lyrics 5/10
Memorability 5/10
Vocals 6/10
Humor 4/10
Production 7/10
10. This house is freakin’ sweet
I appreciate how much more of the cast is included and this is the song that made me consider whether any of these are parodies because it sounds like a song I’d see on broadway. Just lacks personality in my opinion
Lyrics 3/10
Memorability 4/10
Vocals 7/10
Humor 1/10
Production 8/10
11. You’ve got a lot to see
At first i thought this was brian but half the cast sounds like him and that ruined the experience for me. Nothing catchy about this and it feels a bit too serious for this show
Lyrics 3/10
Memorability 4/10
Vocals 8/10
Humor 1/10
Production 6/10
12. I’ve got a little list
I think this is a little low production for stewie (whose songs are generally good quality) and don’t appreciate the britney spears dig because I’ve been reading her autobiography 🥲. Found that this has been trending on social media(?). Lyrics are not memorable but it’s cute (stewie)

13. My drunken irish dad
Less instruments which does impact it but it does make up for that in vocals. Ive never been into the irish but if i were this song would be very important to me. There should be more diversity in singers-i think chris would do well here
Lyrics 3/10
Memorability 5/10
Vocals 7/10
Humor 4/10
Production 4/10
14. It’s a wonderful day for pie
Lacks the anti semitic joke which i prefer because I think it’s unnecessary. One of the best choirs and the first family guy song I was aware of. Peter’s voice is grating in this. Im always happy to see Tom tucker
Lyrics 3/10
Memorability 4/10
Vocals 6/10
Humor 1/10
Production 7/10
15. All i really want for christmas
It is such a shame that the other songs don’t let meg and chris sing because they’re very nice in this song. The melody’s underwhelming and so is the chorus. However despite me saying i did not giggle I thought herbert's part in the refrain was funny. He should be in more songs
Lyrics 5/10
Memorability 4/10
Vocals 4/10

16. Me and jesus
At this point in the list the songs are around the same level.
Good trumpets. But it should come as no surprise to anyone that a peter and jesus song is much less compelling than a brian and stewie song. I appreciate the instrumental
Lyrics 3/10
Memorability 5/10
Vocals 4/10
Humor 2/10
Production 5/10
17. Christmastime is killing us
Again the instrumental is impressive but the song itself is just boring. The story it seems to portray isnt very compelling and low effort
Lyrics 2/10
Memorability 3/10
Vocals 3/10
Humor 1/10
Production 5/10
18. The cleveland show theme
This song is so mediocre it had me thinking three things:
- Seth macfarlane could have not written this show because then this wouldn’t have been produced
- No wonder i’d never heard of this show
- I can’t believe they made a show about him (this may be because I’m partial towards Joe)
Lyrics 2/10
Memorability 3/10
Vocals 2/10
Humor 0/10
Production 2/10
Overall the good songs were well above what I expected and the 'bad' songs were alright. In the end I spent a lot of time on this
